In Benghazi testimony, Petraeus says al Qaeda role known early

Becomming obvious. Stevens also was CIA and was either unlawfully holding prisoners at the annex, or was overseeing a weapons clearing operation, shipping unused weapons from the Libyan uprising into Syria. He was a dead man as soon as they decided to attack, it helps greatly to understand why US military stood down. Instead of that scandal, we are suddenly emersed in a love affair scandal involving none less than the CIA director himself.

It’s fairly obvious to anyone with a brain that this was an organized attack. Can riots sometimes get crazy and lead to violence? Certainly. However, from the on-set of this attack it was obvious that someone organized this “protest”, provided weapons and munitons, and stroked the flames of the ignorant Libyan population. Who would do such a thing? A terrorist organization. Petraeus is a smart guy and he and the rest of the CIA knew the truth. Petraeus has had a beef with Obama leading back to the forced resignation of his friend General McChrystal. It will all be swept under the rug but I would bet my bottom dollar the CIA fed false information to the Obama Administration leading up to the election. That organization always has an agenda and it doesn’t always reflect the current President’s views.

Not the point. The point is obama LIED. Then lied to cover up his lies and used others to cover up the fact he was lying about his lies. He is still lying about all of it. He cannot be trusted at all by the American people, the world, or the people that work for him. That makes him totally ineffective as the President, the leader of the free world, and Commander in Chief of the largest and most powerful military in the world. He needs to go. THAT IS THE POINT!

@bobber, there were no lies. Just because you, and others on the right, are either unable or unwilling to understand that the vast majority of the statements that you and others on the right are using as evidence for ‘lies’ are in fact statements meant to help calm the protests, sometimes violent, that were CURRENTLY active at many of our embassies around the Middle East. These events and those in the Benghazi are separate, yet related events. It appears to me that there are one of three things going on here….

1. The right just does not have the intellectual capacity to understand these complicated situations.
2. They are blinded by their hatred for Obama (whatever drives it), so they are unable to see the facts. The bubble of unreality that Karl Rove demonstrated so well on election night.
3. They do not respect the American Democracy and are doing exactly what they did with Clinton, if you cant beat them find some trumped up charge to impeach them on.

I do not think the majority of the right is that stupid, so IMO the breakdown in %’s for these three scenarios is probably about 20%/40%/40%.

Having a congressional hearing on the missteps leading to our latest ambassador’s death is not a conspiracy. When the very recently departed CIA Director talks it’s not some nutjob (if so we’re all in trouble). This is a clear case of following the chain of information from the intelligence community to the WH and the public statements made subsequent. If there is no cover up just incompetence to blame, then so be it (Iraq – GW Bush). If there is a coverup we need to get to the bottom of it, if possible (Iran/Contra – R Reagan). Ollie North took the fall for Reagan and somebody will take the fall for this. Unfortunately, we’ll probably never know the real truth.

Actually the General said he could not remember ever saying it WAS NOT an al-Qaeda related attack (even on the 14th). What he ded say is that the line mentioning that indeed WAS a terroist attack was somehow deleted (not by him) from his report. He also said he has no idea who deleted it. I believe him. If you are going to get a reliable story you need to look somewhere other than NBC, MSN, CBS, ABC, or Reuters. They all advanced the cover up to re-elect obama. Bill O said to be skeptical of even HIM through all this.

This is the same Susan Rice that played her “ambassador card” to block John Paul O’Neill and his investigation for the FBI, into the Cole Bombing, which based on evidence that was uncovered afterward, established ties b/w that bombing and the following attacks that took place on 9-11.

Footnote: O’Neill lost his life in the 9-11 attacks.

-9/11 Cairo, Egypt- The U.S. embassy in Cairo put out a statement early Tuesday. “The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions,”

-9/11 Cairo, Egypt- Hundreds, perhaps thousands of protestors attack the U.S. embassy in anger over the YouTube video mocking the Prophet Muhammad.

-9/11 Benghazi, Libya- Within hours of the Cairo protests, “reports emerged that a similarly sized group had stormed the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Some were calling it a copycat protest, but it was much more perilous: Four Americans were killed in the melee, including the U.S. ambassador.”

“Within 48 hours the world would witness angry protests unfolding at U.S. embassies, businesses and symbols of power in more than 20 countries.”

-OK, under these circumstances, who would disregard the likeliness that these events seem to be related??? We now know better, but it is completely logical to connect the two.

-Now, for protection, or lack of protection at the Consulate in Benghazi:

“The slapdash security that killed Stevens, technician Sean Smith and CIA guards Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty started with a seemingly inconsequential decision by Libya’s new government. After the fall of Muammar Qaddafi, Libya’s interim government barred armed private security firms – foreign and domestic – from operating anywhere in the country.”

“But the core issue before the attack was a lack of resources and skilled management, not shadowy conspiracies.” (By David Rohde)

-Was it acknowledged as a “Terrorist Attack”?

9/13- President Obama in the Rose Garden, “No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for.”

One can argue that Obama didn’t specify the Benghazi attack. But, one could also argue that Roosevelt didn’t specify the attack on Pearl Harbor in his “A date that will live in infamy” speech…yet, we DO KNOW what he meant!…THE PRESIDENT HAS NOT LIED.

-Poor Susan Rice. She was given the talking points and used them. We know our government works in mysterious ways and for whatever reason it provided the talking points she used. This is no reason for John McCain to besmirch her reputation!

Think about it…How many people would actually have changed their vote, if this tragedy was widely reported as a terrorist attack from the very beginning? This is nothing more than grasping at straws from a badly bruised GOP. There is no logical political gain to be made here…it’s like watching Don Quixote battling windmills.

Your minds are so full of talking points and hatred (from Limbaugh or FOX? Never mind, same thing) that you cannot even understand how deluded you are. When things like this happens Americans usually come together to mourn and to defend their country. As it stands you are grasping at straws and making up your own conspiracy theories.
