Science and genetic research. Why do you think wheat has thousands more genes than humans do? I recently read an article about tomatoes having 7,000 more genes than humans. One interpretation is that environmental requirements for adaptability have evolved more options-weather, bugs, diseases….. And that a potato shares something like 92 % of genes with a tomato. Sounds something like what we hear comparing chimps with humans.

This just in: Monsanto has purchased the rights to the wheat genetic code.

Just kidding, but still a scary prospect.

You would think that a report like this would include some hope for celiac disease or the millions that have gluten intolerance.
