The Defense budget is definitely the one are of the US federal spending that could easily see not just 2% cut but a 30% cut. Aren’t we now out of one war and winding down another one next year? Where’s the peace dividend. And besides what have the $billions bought for us? Certainly not better health or education – key components to a nation’s security. Certainly this bloated budget (which mostly benefits big corporations and consultants with deep military connections) didn’t win us any wars or friends: Iraq is no big fan of the US and the Taliban still control many areas of Afghanistan.

However no Democrat or Republican has the guts to call the Military’s bluff on the billions wasted.
