People buy into this crazy idea that you can somehow “elect” a good economy when they elect a president or other national leader, and the politicians manage to keep selling this nonsense to an ignorant public. Then people get disappointed when nothing happens. It’s like Romney or Obama promising good weather for the next four years. If a president could simply “create jobs” this would be a different universe. Politics is only one small part of global economic reality, though the media makes its seem like the politicians critically important.
