Kerry’s appointment will be just what the Republicans wanted, and planned.

Kerry backed down when the “swift-boaters” attacked him! We need a strong respected person in this position who will not back down!

Well deserved. The country will gain much from this appointment.

Though he paid dearly for the dirty tricks GOP played the last time, this helped current adminstration effectively ward-off similar attacks in the OBL-seals drama.

Kerry is exactly who the GOP had in mind all along. The Libya dog and pony show was to make sure Rice never got the nomination. The Gov of Mass is a Republican who will undoubtedly appoint the sleazeball Scott Brown. That’s the real motive for dragging Ms. Rice through the mud over a 10 second comment she made on a sunday talk show. Even though she gave only the info she had received. The rest was just for show.

Yes, I believe the older generation of politicians on both sides got what they wanted.
The only way to stop the US political problems is to have a public referendum and institute term limits on house, senate, and supreme court. Nothing will change without it.

What the Republicans wanted is Kerry’s senate seat — they believe they will win it when it becomes available after Kerry’s appointment. They actually schemed to toss a highly qualified lady down the drain in order to accomplish this — so far they have succeeded. Politics is a dirty game. It will be interesting to see who wins Kerry’s seat.

Wow, it sure is interesting how the character has no place in determining the credentials of a nominee.

It never ceased to amaze me how so many gullible, naive people were convinced that somehow John Kerry ( who actually went and fought in Viet Nam) was somehow a coward and George w bush who was in the national guard and never even did his duty in the states was not. And here, after all this time, you seem the same stupidity being espoused again.

I remember John Kerry calling our soldiers War Criminals.

My ex-husband and my husband both fought honorably in Vietnam and I still despise Kerry for what he said.

He served only four months of a one year tour of duty based on two very minor and one moderate wound.

Having known two Medal of Honor winners from Vietnam, Kerry is anything but my idea of a hero.

Why can’t the President appoint someone of character and honor?

While I personally feel that he is a good choice for Secretary of State, I’m not sure if the appointment Scott Brown is a good thing. It’s too bad that these things always have to have a downside.

http://www.vvaw.org/commentary/?id=399 This article gives a much better description of what John Kerry said and believed. Vietnam was a huge mistake and vicious acts by soldiers in war is common. The bottom line was, this war was not a just war. Much like Iraq, our leaders were too blame and our soldiers and civilians paid the ultimate price.

I think Kerry would do a good job as Secretary of State. But I hope Obama picks someone else so a Republican is not appointed to his vacant seat. It’s well known the Republicans have planned this. So, Mr President, don’t play their game! There are others qualified to be Secretary of State.

Don’t be surprised to see Sen. Lugar called instead. This plan to get Brown to run for Kerry’s seat by the GOP could have it easily happen.
