well, if you push a society back into the stone age for as long as Afghanistan has been, they will do stupid stone age things.
We, the western powers, created the mess in the ‘stans. Another country we created. Commenters should be aware of that before disrespecting the people of that region.
Before the American stoned age commenters jump on me, no I do not support them. But I do feel for them.

The two main reasons why the Taliban and others like them oppose immunisation are that it was invented by scientists and those scientists came from Western, liberal, countries.

Until some cleric convinces them this is a gift from ‘god’ this won’t change.

First, guns, IEDs, drones, cluster bombs, mines, grenade launchers, helicopter gunships, and car bombs don’t kill people… people kill people. Second, if only all those nurses were armed with bushmaster semi-automatic rifles or 9mm Glocks, they would have subdued those evil doers with a volley of counterfire. The problem is really that these countries don’t have a good second amendment, nor do they have the lobbying organizations part of the best democracy money can buy. Got it?

I highly doubt this is random violence (aka “stupid stone age things”) .. OBL was found using spies within health clinics now humanitarian workers are paying the price. Chalk it up to collateral damage as usual.

And dont forget the medical people are used by the cia for information. With there rise in violence in Pak they are probably taking out those they cant trust.

luh3417 makes a good point. There are too many parallels between the gun nuts and religious zealots here and there.

This is a business opportunity!

Pull all of the immunization teams out and restrict travel FROM Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria with large fences and automated weapons systems that fire on any moving target. This will protect the rest of the world from these misguided sheep.

Then manufacture iron lungs by the millions and sell them (or barter for natural resources) to these populations.

The religious zealots get to continue to subjugate their people with 13th century practices, and Western corporations roll in the dough.

It’s a win-win!

Are there any Muslim countries that don’t shoot doctors and throw rocks at girls? These men eat far too much goat meat on their kabobs.

Scale it back, eat some fruit. Clear your systems. You can grow apples and apricots throughout the valleys of Pakistan.

Of course the reaction couldn’t be due to the caustic, disabling reactions of the vaccinations on the young in Afghanistan. It must be because they are anti-science. . The people of Afghanistan must be so backwards that they can’t see the wonderful benefits of such a barbaric practice.
