Yes, Obama should be the man of the year in Time Magazine. He will be responsible for ANOTHER credit downgrade, and driving the country to be on par to that of Greece where this country can no longer pay it’s debt.

But of course, who else? And how ironic that half this man’s cabinet should be DOING time. Malala Yousufzai is a perfect example of courage and bravery, she would do more for ‘hope and change’ than our illustrious President and crew ever will. He should hand her that Nobel Peace Prize collecting dust on his shelf to boot. Yet another reason why I refuse to read this rag.

I love how Obama is a hero because he won with high unemployment and a dysfunctional government in all branches. He’ll certainly be celebrated as the man who gutted Social Security. Good job, Time. But then you also chose Adolph Hitler as Man of the Year.

Hey, let’s give him two more Nobel Prizes and throw in a few Pulitzers. I think he should also win an Oscar, seven golden Olympic medals and let’s send him the first place ribbon for the three legged race at the local elementary school. There’s no way this could be political, no sir, he earned that Nobel Prize by… by breathing?

In 1938, Time named Adolf Hitler as “Man of the year”. Not to compare President Stinky (BO) with Hitler of course, but here’s what Time says about their selections as Man (or person) of the year.

“the single person who, for better or worse, has most influenced events in the preceding year”. Obviously, Hitler had the most influence over the world during 1938, and so it makes perfect sense to call him the man of the year. It’s like that with Obama too.

Even more two-faced: He won’t let Arizona enforce valid federal laws – protecting their borders and validating who is in their state illegally, but has “Bigger Fish To Fry” and basically gives a green light to the Colorado and Washington states for allowing recreational marijuana use, without due process on how this will play in with it being federally illegal. Wonder how many new Detox and Rehab Clinics we’ll all end up paying for through ObamaCare. Pot is known as the ‘starter drug’. Not all, but many of these new recreational users will move on to harder drugs.

LOL!!! Look at all the conservatives with the vein starting to bulge in their foreheads. I think Time is correct in their decision. Of course the cons are going to spew and sputter and blame everything that has happend in America on Obama. To bad the mental midgets are incapable of seeing that it was conservative government that brought us to this. They keep shooting themselves in the foot with their assault weapon. It is a political philosophy that needs to stay in the past. Each election is showing how irrelevent they are becoming. So wring your hands and cry in your split pea soup. Facts… which is totally lost on cons, cannot be dismissed or rewritten. This President has had to face down the ignorance called conservatism and he has beaten it back. Our nation is improving and will continue as long we keep the conservatives in diapers. LOL!!! This is just funny to watch. SMH

time magazine has not been relevant for several years. now you know why.

Dec 19, 2012 10:53am EST  --  Report as abuse

Time magazine has come up with silly choices for this in the past, as with last years choice. However, this time they definitely got it right. The President towers over other political leaders in the country, with the end of the Iraqi war, the likely end of the Afghan war during his second term, and the 4 year steady recovery from the Recession. Most importantly, as we saw when he spoke about the mass murder of children in Connecticut recently, he actually cares, unlike most or all other politicians.

Did I read this right? Was one of his accomplishments winning over 50% of the vote? Take a good look at the numbers and you will see he barely won the popular vote. That means over 49% of voters DIDN’T pick him! Some mandate he will be carrying into office. Lets see how all that success adds up when trying to confirm a supreme court justice! TIME has gotten lazy.

Time is such a racist organization. Focusing on the color of people’s skin constantly is what keeps racism alive. Lets move beyond that please.

With their blood pressure so high for so long, they’re likely to stroke out in their efforts to conjure up any contrived scandal they possibly can.

Mankind’s only salvation is the fact that these behaviors will radically shorten their lives (all for naught), and the remaining (actually sentient) people can move forward. After all, the election WAS won by progressives that are PROUD of that label.

It is funny watching the right-wing getting all hissy about this. Well done, Time magazine!

First, as TheNewWorld correctly states, George Bush was Person of the Year in 2000 and 2004 – where were all the “Hitler won it too!” comments then? In fact, every US president has had the award since it began.

Second, the righties are missing the point. The award is given for people who have had the most influence on history. It is not a judgement on the person. Do any of you righties deny that Hitler made history?
