The US invaded and occupied Iraq using a lie, forced our will on the Iraqis, killed tens of thousands of innocent civilians, then stole the oil with bribe money. Why would the people of Iraq not love us?
Besides, those so called embassy guys were CIA, and the Iraqis knew it.

We shouldn’t even be there. The way things are going in that country, it seems we will be fighting them again, at some point in the future. Next time, we’ll be facing all the modern military equipment we gave them . . . Brilliant!

And, americanguy I’d like to know how you think “we stole their oil”. I’m amazed how many people just love to recite memorized political spin (AKA Koolaid), when they know zero about the subject.

A lot of sour grapes here. (Look up the Aesop myth if you don’t know what that means).

Will we see a repeat of this in Afghanistan? France is pulling out the last of its troops – the U K is pulling out half of its troops – we will be left holding the bag and paying for one of the most corrupt governments on the face of the earth. And all the while our troops are being wounded or killed by our “allies” in the Afghan military and police units.

A $750 million embassy in Iraq – where employees of our government hide for up to 3 years. And how much are we, the taxpayers, paying for these private contractors who have taken over the jobs of our military in training Iraqis and in other jobs once done by our military?

The US came in and laid waste to their country and destroyed their infrastructure. We slaughtered and tortured their citizens with impunity. We destabilized their society to the point that we had a full blown civil war going on on our watch. What’s there not to like about an American occupation? I suspect it’s like bashing your head against a wall – it feels great when it stops.
