Who’s going to protect the streets and parks of DC…remember the DC sniper and his assault rifle.

Who’s going to protect the shooting and killings that happen almost every single day at a shopping mall in America or a city street.

How does adding more guns make guns less available to the cracker heads?

How does adding more guns prevent crazy family members from gaining access to assault weapons owned by their other family members.

More assault weapons and more military class weapons in the hands of more and more people makes these deadly weapons even more available to people who should never own or have access to any fire arms!

He’s a Republican….what are the laws of SUPPLY SIDE ECONOMICS….after all that is your argument for tax cuts for the rich….so things can trickle down into the hands of others!

So the solution to the problem of gun violence is more guns. Well, I guess that’s a good plan for gun the manufacturers.

If that’s the NRA’s position, I guess we don’t need to involve them in the gun violence conversation.

that’s the most perfectly perverse and cynical idea i have ever heard. if people are not outraged by this then we have reached even another new low of depravity.

“Gun dealer lobby proposes more guns in general population, beyond the 300 million guns already out there.”

If the more-guns idea really works….. why doesn’t Congress do that? They use metal detectors on their building. They don’t allow guns in.

Lapierre (NRA) is a salesman or marketing company of fear which sends people to BUY, BUY, BUY…Fear is a powerful emotion and they know it. This yields huge profits to the makers of GUNs. It’s all about GREED with this guy and the NRA and gun makers!

Let’s also arm guards and have them follow the police around to ensure protection of the Constitution as well

The gun lobby, conservatives/tea partyists, would like to turn us into another Syria with themselves as our home grown Taliban.. they are all mean control freaks … is America headed for a full-on revolution? Seems we can no longer negotiate..

I agree with AllkalineState in that detectors might be a good answer. But you’d have to have an armed guard to monitor it, just like at court houses. I believe though that limited access to schools is the answer.

If the NRA calls for armed guards in every school. Well who is going to pay for those armed guards. The NRA is good at opening their mouths but they never seems to put up or fork over the cash. The idea is a lame excuse for an over zealous groups of armed gangsters.

As the debate rolls on ! All schools need to take action now. Armed guards for now is really not such a bad idea. Secure the area…..Protect what is most precious, The Children… while we stand around and argue the door is wide open for more of this insanity. Guard the door!! Not a NRA member, but I can at least take what some are calling ludicrous on the short term until things get worked out.I refuse to give up any rights for Gun ownership,.Guns used that belong to others for crimes should have prosecution for the owner as well. Keep your weapons secure or get time of ten years in prison etc.

I am tired of all the knee jerk reactions to these school shootings. These attacks are coming from our own citizens. We have accomplished NOTHING that will effectively prevent crime, or give back the souls that have been torn from our hearts. You can’t legislate THAT, now can you?? No new laws will do anything to prevent this from happening again, will it?

Have any of you commentors looked into the Portland Mall shooting. The gunman killed himself when an off duty guard got a bead on him with a gun. The guard did not fire as it was not a clean shot, but the shooter was finished and he knew it. Until we get a handle on mental cases there is no safe place. 30+ years of denial that mental problem people are dangerous is showing up. Armed guards are already in place in many schools. They do no cost as much as a regular police officer, but they work. Check it out.

LaPierre is right, but he is forgetting something. If the bad guy has a handgun, the good guy needs a rifle, and if the bad guy has a rifle, the good guy will need a semi-automatic, and if the bad guy has a semi-automatic the good guy will need an automatic, and if the bad guy has an automatic, why the good guy will just have to get a machine gun, and if the bad guy has a machine gun, well the good guy can always get a grenade launcher, and if the bad guy . . .
