“In retaliation for new U.S. legislation designed to punish Russians accused of human rights violations”

This story glosses over that part. The US legislature passed a law to seize the assets of some individual accused (and acquitted in Russia, if I am not mistaken) of human rights violations without giving them due process. That is the kind of acts that cause us be hated by other parts of the world.

Two wrongs don’t make a right, but the Russians are making this response to highlight the hypocrisy.

We were bringing too many Russian babies over here any way. It is like Ebay for children. Babies sold like pets from the shelter. Those international babies (China, Russia, etc.) are human beings, and should not be bought and sold like stray dogs. It has gotten way out of control. Some of those babies are kidnapped at hospitals and they tell the mother the child died. The end does not justify the means. This is nothing more than a child slavery market.
Besides, there will be a new and more profitable black market for kidnapped babies so Americans will still be able to buy children.
Here’s a really weird idea, adopt an American baby or child and help them.

Putin had earlier described the Russian bill as an emotional but appropriate response to the Magnitsky Act, legislation signed by President Barack Obama this month as part of a law granting Russia “permanent normal trade relations” (PNTR) status.

I have no surprised with Putin’s reaction. He is former KGB agent during Communist era, who will sacrifice his citizens and now orphans without mercy.

Oh, what a low life Putin is…along with his associates – 46 children scheduled to be adopted to the U.S. – to parents who will love them – instead they get to stay in squalor and abuse – only in Russia could this be justified – what pitiful excuses they are – Putin is more concerned about Assad, the Syrian butcher than his country’s own abandoned children – what goes around comes around – let’s hope it happens sooner rather than later

It seems people are genuinely concerned about Russian “poor orphans who need homes and warm families”. That’s great, but what about orphans from other parts of the world? What about orphans in US? Let’s talk about that and leave Russians alone, they’ll solve their problems on their own.

The crime isn’t that Russia wont allow children to be adopted into the US, the crime is that right now the US has over 460,000 children in foster care- of that 104,000 need permanent homes. I’ve adopted 4 from foster care but there are so many more of our own children that need homes, perhaps we should say thank you to Putin as he just gave all our US children a better chance.

Who cares? Keep your orphans, there are plenty of other countries in the world that would be over delighted have Americans raise their orphans.

Putin needs more soldiers for Russian Mafia, plain and simple. Easiest way to make them? Train the orphans to be cold war communist, and mafia.

Putin you set Russia back 50 years when you took office again, great job!!!

i am glad someone had the guts to point out our own hypocrisy. The west always uses the law when it is convenient and when it is inconvenient they ignore it or make new laws to replace the old laws they did not like. Look at what the Brits were ready to do in the case of Julian Assange. They were ready to overrun the Ecuadorian embassy and violate every international law in order to get their objective. This is another reason why Britain is not very well respected around the world.

This is a non story. Why are Americans going oversees to adopt children? Do we not have enough of our own that need love and caring? I tend to suspect all these adoptions as perhaps use for child labor, porn or prostitution.
