It is all part of the dumbing down of America. I realize that language is dynamic, however, we are lazier than ever in our everyday usage.

Poor teaching,laziness?

Grammar, punctuation and spelling all seem to be declining. This is especially evident in broadcast journalism and printed news articles. A great example is the use/misuse of the word fun and its’ related funner and funnest…..????? Seriously?

Do we no longer teach the basics through junior and senior high school? If not, why not? It is the basis for our culture, such as it is, in the twenty-first century.

The word I wish would disappear from newspapers is “viral.” I won’t dwell on all the reasons why. Just get rid of it! (Drid Williams)
