House Republicans say resigned to tax hike in fiscal cliff
I live in the US, and I am plain disgusted by politicians in general. If it came down to the well being of 250 million people, one would think morally you should do whatever it took to help those people out, rather than furthering 1 persons career. But then again, they are, and I quote from the article “”I’m a hopeless optimist. I still think there’s a chance we’ll get things done. All major deals get done at the end,”". Most intelligent people in the private sector get things done before the last minute, because it says alot about the way you do business if you always get the most important things done at the last minute. Its just not a sound business structure, and I think politicians get too caught up in their own importance to understand the effect that decision has upon other people who have no real say in the issue.
From the article, “The bigger problem in avoiding the fiscal cliff, Flake said, would be if Obama demanded cancellation of the $109 billion in automatic spending cuts set to begin on January 2 without alternative spending cuts to replace them.”
And the democrats could say the same thing, but replace automatic spending cuts with revenue. They should just agree to go over the cliff and accept whatever automatic spending cuts/revenues occur, since clearly the Republicans aren’t interested in a balanced compromise. The sooner they decide to stick with the automatic cuts the sooner we can accept that fate and move on with our lives and financial planning.
House Republicans have been chipping away at entitlement speanding since they took the majority. They’ve already gotten spending reductions on all but their pet interests and have given nothing in return. To the point they’ve heavily contributed to slowing the progress of Americas recovery from the current recession and cuased Americas credit rating to tank. Boehner caters to the tea party fanatics and Grover Norquist to a point he’s turned his back on the majority of Republican voters.
It’s time the Republican House and in turn Boehner give. It’s all been take until now.
I’m as concerned about this nations debt as anyone else but the level of cuts the House Republicans and more specifically that they don’t also equally target their pet interests with cuts tells me they don’t actually care as much as they present they do. This is a powerplay which has diddly to do with the health of America.
To Boehner and the House Republicans, it’s your turn this time to give more than you get.
If the Repos didn’t want this tax increase to occur, why did they write it as a temporary decrease back in the Dubya years? They’re crying crocodile tears as far as I’m concerned.
House GOPers seem to have bought into the vision of their fine set of clothes. US voters know very well who has tried to upend their government and their economic engine: House GOP under major drunk Boehner. Even Sen Republicans have not acted treasonous like their House counterparts, mostly because they are as weak and impotent as their chinless leader, Turkey-wattle McConnell. The statements by Cole of OK show how dishonest and baseless the House GOP has become. Angry old white men have had their day and they need to exit stage right before We the People start to hold them accountable for their years of adolescent boy pranks while running our House.
