House chooses Boehner as speaker again despite dissent
Seeing the Republicans split on many things now is encouraging. Perhaps this can be the start of the formation of a moderate Center Party which would hold the balance of power between increasingly acrimonious major parties who have lost track of what is best for the country.
A minor third party of Independents would be a blessing and perhaps end the filibuster spread in the Senate and the total split in the House.
I like the idea of a center party. Let the radical socialists and the anti abortion right all go to hell.
Third party would be good. I prefer Libertarians.
This guy has the most thankless job in Washington. He stands alone in fighting Washington excesses that are supported by much of a now addicted nation. The recovery from this high will be very very painful as any junkie will attest.
The real battle is coming up very soon and will be ugly.
The loud, obstructionist “Tea Party” wing of the Republican Party is hereby revealed as impotent cowards. Unable to stage an insurrection in their own caucus–let alone “Washington”–they are instead quietly content to cringe behind the bloodstained pants of the “leader” they did so much to publicly humiliate. Where was the proud, unwavering determination, the stirring invocations of the Founding Fathers, the steel-jawed patriot stepping forward to seize the reins from a corrupt dealmaker? They adore the poses they strike in the mirror–hardnosed businessman, clear-eyed econometrician, vigilant defender of freedom–but in the cold light of day, we can see they are little more than children, playacting in a game they simply don’t understand.
