What I don’t understand is why, before every major art auction, such a cheerleading article appears in the art press without any question of the veracity of such obvious manipulation. I never read that the auction house is expecting poor or luke warm results. Yet, most of these pontifications turn out to be not true. Can anyone explain that to me?
