It is not easy to root out corruption in Pakistan. Corruption is so endemic, rampant, and insidious in South East Asia it will take three generations to cleanse out the system.

In 2011, Anna Hazare tried to take on corruption in India and failed miserably. Until very recently, cleric Muhammad Tahirul Qadri, was an unknown figure in Pakistan and is a dark horse as opposed to Anna Hazare who has a solid reputation and was popular among Indians before he started his anti-corruption campaign in India.

It is dangerous to overthrow any government in Pakistan when the law and order situation is already bad. If there is a people’s revolution in Pakistan, there is a strong possibility it will result in total anarchy and Qadri may turn out to be another Robespierre. Obviously, the army will be forced (or designed) to step in.
