I’d go a step farther: if you don’t have a program for work or profit that specifically REQUIRES Java Runtime to be installed, just uninstall Java altogether. If a program for personal or entertainment use insists on you installing Java, remove it and find a different solution.
Since Java is free you can’t vote with your pocketbooks. But you can vote with uninstallers. Just ditch it.
