Why is it always unexpected!? The economy is in the tank. The cancellation of the social security tax break took a huge chunk out of most american’s paycheck. People are starting to realize that 4 more years of the current status quo is really going to be bad.

i love how the article touts “steady job creation.” Job creation isn’t even keeping up with demand. The only reason it looks low is because of the number of people who have given up and are now living on the teet of the government.

and of course there’s low inventory. No one’s building in large numbers because the economy is horrible. In addition, small businesses won’t want full time employees because of the AHCT (Obamacare) is driving up the costs to businesses.

True, because if the “recovery” were to derail, at least it wouldn’t be getting worse. This liberal lip service from the media will continue until, in a few years, people will adjust to the new low we’ve descended to and accept it as the new norm.

So one so-so month in an otherwise two-year trend of stabilization in the housing market and suddenly the world is ending right righties/Obama haters? No way this was just a blip due to uncertainty over the ‘fiscal cliff’, mostly due to the obstructionist GOP hpuse.

I work in real estate, and the housing market is recovering nicely. What this article doesn’t mention is that December is always a low month for resales. People don’t shop for homes in December, with the holidays imminent, and rarely want to add a large purchase at the end of the tax year. The fiscal cliff shenanigans likely didn’t help, but in boom times or slow, December is always a low motility month in real estate.

And building, new home construction, is at a five year high; so no, low construction figures are not the reason there is a low inventory right now.

December wouldn’t be my first choice as the best month to buy or sell a home, either.

@USAPragmatist,

I had to laugh at your post! “A two-year trend of stabilization”?…in case you didn’t know, that’s another way of saying a flat-line economy with zero economic growth.

Of course, ANYONE who disagrees with you is an Obama-hater and GOP lover….

You have it all wrong, bro. For the last two years all the reports of solid growth in the housing market were all liberal fabrications and fake numbers. This month is, for some reason, the first and only month where they decided to tell the truth.

Your daughter and her husband sound like a couple of freeloading losers looking for a handout. Tell them to stop being takers and go get jobs instead of leeching off the tax dollars I pay on my three.
