To paraphrase quote Adam Smith, author of Wealth of Nations and the Father of Capitalism:

“Leave two merchants alone in a room by themselves and they will conspire to fix prices and drive down the cost of labor”. Even the Father of Capitalism thought there was a role – albeit small – for the government to regulate and outlaw price-fixing.
