Given that “Obamacare” is, for the most part, turning out to be a “pig in a poke”, we should be thankful for the spending constraints and hope for more to come. Our country cannot continue to add $1 trillion per year to the national debt, as it has done for the past 3 years!

Eddo,

Do you have any macro-economic analysis that shows why large
deficits during a recession cannot continue until the
recession is over?

As the article states, “The drive to cut spending could
abate in coming years as well if an expanding economy boosts
tax revenues and narrows budget deficits.”

There is one actual problem with the deficits that may have
escaped your notice. As long as we have the highly
skewed distribution of wealth and income, no amount of
stimulus will achieve a self-sustaining recovery.

Until we do something about the rules and regulations than
promote this overly skewed distribution, the economy is
not going to recover.

Apparently Obama has no concern for the size of the budget or the deficit. As he stated, we must raise the debt ceiling now in order to enable us to pay our bills. That is just so much b.s. In his ideals he really does not want a budget at all. Contiunue to find ways to tax us more and transfer more and more functions to our government. Take away all incentives for self-determination and let the government take care of everything. From each according to his capacity, to each according to his need. Seems to me that has been tried before, and failed. Brother Marx tried, but I, Obama, can do it better. I will make it work. NOT!! In 4 years the US will be MUCH worse off than it already is. Rampant inflation. Shortages. Higher unemployment. Higher taxes. A mess. And a Constitution that we might as well not have, because the POTUS does not respect it.

This so called “cut” is Washington speak. It’s “cut” from what the politicians really want to spend, but in the real world it’s an increase.

If you make $50k a year, and next year you make $53k a year, your pay went up, regardless of what inflation did, or how many additional members of your family you might take care of.

1. Deficit spending is justified on the ground that the spending is strictly on productive factors with added values. Very little quantifiable evidence of such from major income and labor participation economic data.
2. The daily addition of more than $42b to the national debt, and the burden of compounded interest payment on the $16.5T should be a huge concern–but it’s being minimized.

Wonder who is a whitewashed hog.

If you can’t understand that it is a spending problem of Obama’s and you want to blame the congress, explain how a 100% cut in defense and a confiscation of all income above 250k won’t fix the budget deficit. How can we spend 3 dollars and take in 2 dollars and not go broke? The democrat party plan is to spend us to absolutely broke to ruin us. The reason why this economy continues to struggle has nothing to do with economic disparities. It has everything to do with the Progressive Liberal tax and spend policies. Businesses refuse to spend money because their taxes are increasing and because Obama continues to spend TRILLIONS of dollars each year that we do not have and is financing that by placing a larger burden on our children. Thats why no jobs are being created and the economy is floundering! In 4 years…Obama has already spent more money than exists in the whole world. When has Obama ever cared about spending? Every year since he became President, we have had deficits ranging from $1.2-1.6t. Not only that but the Senate has not voted on a budget in 4 years.

This effectively locks in stimulus level spending from Obama’s first year because instead of a budget, congress runs things off of continuing resolutions. This was an intentional plan by Obama and the Democrats to maintain stimulus level spending until Obama or the Senate Democrats are out of office.

Since we have had what amounts to a $800b stimulus every year for the last four years, don’t you wonder what that money is spent on? Why isn’t our media covering this?

Our interest payments on debt exceed $400b a year. Our defense budget this year is just under $700b. Soon our interest payments on debt will be on par with what we spend on defense. Our interest payments on debt are more than what we were spending on the Iraq/Afghanistan wars at their height ($200b).

Every dollar we spend on interest payments is a dollar sucked out of the economy and is a dollar the government cant spend services. Obama’s spending is leading us down the road where we have to choose making interest payments on debt or funding Social Security and Medicare.

The media may think its job is to prop up Obama but they are doing a disservice to our country by not informing the populace about the dire fiscal situation we are in.

The pols in power cite those “economists” so-called to support their agenda. Those out of power cite the economists who support theirs.

Meanwhile the economists argue over this that and the other. If economics was a science, they’d all be in agreement. As practiced today, economics is an art, whose beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.

Deficits matter, deficits don’t matter. The debt matters, the debt does not matter. And while all this contradictory spewing goes on the pols go their merry way, spending us and future generations into oblivion.

Since he’s been completely wrong about almost everything, I hardly think this is to worry about.

Wow, this article has the typical left leaning opinion and Obama protectionist attitude. The point missed by the author is our government has a serious spending problem and this false sense of need for more IRS, FBI and department employees will be necessary in the next 4 years is absurd. The President and his minions are trying to do everything to spend us into oblivion, just look at Obama Care. We could have reduced everyones insurance premiums, given everyone basic medical coverage where everyone paid some sort of premium rather than half the country getting theirs for free. Obama and the democrats are unfortunately no different than the republicans, they are playing the American people in the media and are patting themselves on the back behind closed doors. Unless we as citizens wise up both of the corrupt parties will continue to take this country in the wrong direction.

This is, without a doubt, the most nauseatingly inaccurate puff piece on the Big O’s “economic policies” that I have yet come across. The idea that “O” has ANY goal other than the destruction of this nation via the impoverishment of its citizens, is absurd. If there were any justice in this world, Andy Sullivan would be one of the first to feel the economic consequences of “O’s” economic policies. Welcome to Structural Corruption.

One of the long term rules of economics is “you can’t cheat”. Over the long term, misbehavior will be corrected. You can only distort the markets so much before it comes back to bite you. We are not, repeat not over spending by 1 trillion dollars. We are overspending by 6-7 trillion dollars per year. You see you cannot take medicare, medicaid and Social Security off the books. You have to count them too, and that makes the 6-7 trillion debt we are accruing for 2013. So long as the spoiled children and political deniers are running our government, we will not address the problem. Economics will have it’s revenge on the once powerful United States of America. Our greatness is past, our demise is our future. (blinkin’ idiots)
