The American people want this bill to pass. I hope Congress stands up for the will of most Americans and pass this bill.

The American people really need to go read her proposal.

It’s not just “assault weapons” like the AR-15 that she is proposing to ban….it’s virtually EVERY single semi-automatic weapon out there…pistol, rifle and shotgun.

This is biggest piece of tripe I’ve ever seen.

Feinstein’s bill is an outright attack on the 2nd amendment. Go read it. It makes many small commonplace details determining factors for the “assault weapon” category.

“Assault weapon” anyhow is a made up thing that the anti-gun lobby have been redefining as they see fit to ban whatever they think they can get away with when they go to vote. It might include handguns, it might not. Might include hunting rifles, might not.

The end game is clear enough as the gun control lobby takes its cue from the late Senator Howard Metzenbaum: “Until we can ban all of them [guns], we might as well ban none.” Feinstein herself is a good example since its well-known she’s been after this for decades.

I hope Congress stands up for the constitution, freedom, and for American gun owners and rejects this bill.

Also, I note the article’s quasi-informative factoid:

With 310 million guns in civilian hands and 11,000 homicides with firearms last year, the United States is one of the world’s most heavily armed and violent countries.

It would be great to know how many of these were committed with AR-15s and AK-47s.

It would also be great to have a parallel paragraph:

With over 1,000 bases around the world and a military budget as large as the next 14 powers combined, the United States is one of the world’s most heavily armed and violent countries.

Why in God’s name would ANYONE not want a ban on the sale of these military guns? When the 2nd amendment was written people used muskets and most of today’s laws protecting us didn’t exist!

abkisa – They aren’t military guns. True military guns have been banned from civilians for around 90 years (fully automatic and burst capable guns). The “assault weapons” are functionally identical to any semi-automatic hunting rifle. What sets them apart are features like folding stocks and pistol grips. Cosmetics don’t really create a more efficient killing tool.

When the First Ammendment was written they were using quill pens and fixed type why would anyone not want to ban free speech on TV, Radio, and the internet?

LOL Assault weapons ban? The stupid name “assault rifle”. Too many ignorant people out there that don’t even know what the 2nd stands for and what an assault rifle is. So many people call we gun owners that have semi autos, extremist and such. We are no more extreme than our founding fathers, oh wait, you hate those old racist white guys.

The NRA is a special interest lobbying for American rights. When the ACLU lobbies for special interests, what do you call them? We have lost ourselves and lost our way. Too many have become too distant from the original intent of our Constitution & Bill of Rights.

Obamacare was rammed down our throat so it’s possible they will ram this piece of crap down our throats as well. Diane Feinstein, I will heed your advice and let my represenitives know that they will be out of their jobs if they pass this infringement of our rights. The 2nd isn’t about hunting you fools, iT’s about protection from vigilanties and at worst protection from our own government. Perhaps this is why they want to outlaw their direct balance of public power. You guys that think the 2nd is about hunting, need to go read some more.

It should also be mentioned that just about all firearms ever made either have been or were patterned from military weapons so any gun can be said to be a military weapon (and banned if Feinstein gets her way)
