In 1997, my husband and I got married and were living in Florida. We filed change of name petitions to combine both our maiden names to a new last name. The court did not have a problem with it and we both took our certified name change order to the DMV and got new SS cards and drivers licenses without a hitch, all in Miami-Dade County.
