I, for one, will be making a point to watch this year’s Oscars show. IMHO, Barbra Streisand is on of the best female singers from my generation (60ish) still alive. She is an accomplished director and philanthropist as well. I wish I had just 1 opportunity to have heard per perform live. Beverly Sills was my favorite opera singer, I can listen to Sarah McLaughlin any time, enjoy Celine Dion, and wish Janis Joplin, Patsy Cline and Whitney Houston were still with us. Kate Smith, Dinah Shore, The Lennon Sisters…now I’m really dating myself…lol. We just lost the last of the Andrew Sisters, who most haven’t a clue who they were, but had the best harmonies I can remember hearing. Children’s, Adult Choir in Catholic Church, singing in English, Latin and Polish, Junior High School Competitive Glee Club, High School Glee Club, so I think I have a pretty good “ear” for music. Joan Baez, Bette Middler, Carole King, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, Diana Ross, and Linda Ronstadt, to mention a few, are also some of my all-time favs. But “Babs” is the one nearest and dearest this “ole broad’s” heart.
