The stupid bus driver should have been armed!

@idiot – The bus driver was not stupid. Most likely his employment terms prohibited him from carrying a weapon. Grow up and move out of your mother’s basement.

Why should the bus driver be armed? Should all teachers, principals, bus drivers, etc. carry now? Isn’t it more likely that a curious child would get the gun while the person is, um, doing their job than a madman hold up a bus? How many kids shoot each other or themselves in homes with guns?
I have a gun in my house. I have children in my house. And my kids can’t get to my guns. But its impossible for a bus driver to have a gun and be able to get to it in a time of crisis without it also being available to children.
So you can claim everyone should carry a gun but don’t call a man stupid after he was killed protecting children.

I sure am glad I live in a society that doesn’t consider it stupid, to go to the workplace unarmed. For that, I am pretty sure the phrase ‘Only in America’ applies.

And then they wonder why the rest of the world doesn’t actually believe it to be the greatest place on earth, it’s really just a cesspool of crime and corruption.

They couldn’t figure that out by him shooting and KILLING the bus driver and threatening other people.

When a person kills an animal with a lead pipe and threatens people and nothing is done what does that tell you. Why was nothing done when he killed the dog?? that should be a clue that he has problems.

Only a complete fool would call the bus driver – who died a hero trying to protect the kids – stupid for any reason.
The chances of a deranged man with a gun attacking the bus is much lower than the chances of a an accident with loaded gun on a bus filled with small kids – especially in the hands of someone other than a law enforcement professional. (And don’t give me that bs about giving them NRA gun training – that only fools people into believing they know more than they do, and that’s when accidents are more likely to happen. I know, I lost a nephew that way.)
If we can require tests before giving someone a driver’s license, we should demand the same before giving someone a gun.

@1xslaveusa, the only stupid person around is you. Are you too stupid to see that if he had carried a gun it still would not have prevented him from getting killed? Look at what happened to the American Sniper, the seal that was killed by another ex-soldier. Do you really think that just having a gun will prevent someone from killing you?

So glad the little one is safe, and happy for his family. My hat is off to the law enforcement people who handled this crisis well.

The bus driver was a hero. I think that if this guy had been successful with his plan to take two children that he would have killed one of them very soon after abducting them in order to prove that he was serious about whatever demands he was making. He had only the one child so it was not in his best interest to harm him .It was only through that bus driver’s sacrifice only one child was taken.

The bus driver wasn’t a hero. A hero wouldn’t have let a deranged man onto a school bus full of kids. He was an older man working the only job he could get. This would not have happened to Obama’s kids or any of our representative’s kids. Your kids just aren’t worth protection.

Curious the title identifies the child as ‘safe’ – since the gunman has opened a new can of worms with his choice of targets. The child will be again riding the bus next week. Safely, I pray
