That is so contrary to the rule of law and the Constitutional principles of America that it boggles the mind. Even the most hideous Nazi war criminal facing the noose or life in prison had that sentence passed after a trial.

As a taxpayer, this is not OK, because myself and millions of others are paying for this travesty of justice, which isn’t coming cheap, at approximately $330,000,000 USD per year, or almost $2,000,000 per detainee/year (from the government’s figures in total costs for GITMO, http://documents.nytimes.com/current-costs-at-guantanamo 2010). Really? Keeping Charlie Manson locked up is dirt cheap by comparison. Maybe we just need to send them to the SHU in California rather than keeping them in a posh prison complex in the Caribbean.
