Monster was a late comer to the Brazilian Market, so it is difficult to position a product and costly. Local companies like vagas.com.br had a very good product for the Brazilian market and also a position built around a strategy that made it very difficult for Monster to compete.
The problem that during a recession in its primary markets the value of its services drops as the it becomes easier to find good talent available on the market.
