The Department of Homeland Security has ordered 7,000 fully automatic AR-15 assault weapons that they have labeled “personal defense weapons”. These will be added to their large arsenal of other weapons and billions of rounds of ammunition. As a citizen of the United States, I should be allowed to own a semi-automatic version of the same firearm that Homeland Security has ordered and call it my “personal defense weapon”. Obviously, the Second Amendment gives me the right to do that.

I always had a sentiment like this: guy pulling buckshot out his leg or chest is going to be deterred from raping your wife, or stealing your stuff. 2nd Amendment was meant to help defend against the likes of the British, Natives, French, Spanish, etc: not as a backup method of armed revolution (which means overthrowing the legal system anyway). Maybe we need a handguns-for-shotguns program for those commit-ed to remain armed?

Joe is it OK to buy a semi automatic shot gun or do you recommend an over, under or double barrel break apart. I’m so confused, I need some help? I find it hard to take Biden serious. i believe the man has gone senile. Some of the words that pass over the lips of this man are down right laughable. Here is another example of his irresponsible behavior. Joe buy a brain transplant?

Biden has done something very sensible. Instead of telling people to do without guns, he has suggested a simpler and better way to protect your family: instead of a rifle, get a shotgun.

If it is still easy to buy a shotgun, but becomes difficult and risky to buy an assault rifle, potential school or workplace shooters would not be able to kill so many people so quickly. Wouldn’t it be nice to keep a few extra people alive after one of these incidents?

Dear American friend… We, here in Canada probably have more guns per capita than the citizens of your country. We recognize that there are only two reasons one should own a gun; 1, hunting, 2, gun clubs. Self defence is clearly not a reason to own a gun. We regulate the heck out of guns and make sure than no person has the arbitrary right to carry a gun. If it were me, I’d use the example of Canadian Law to reform and restructure your laws. The Constitutional right to bare arms was created out of necessity, at the time. I’m pretty sure that civil war in the U.S. is no longer something to be worried about, and thus carrying a gun wherever you go is not needed, anymore. I’m not saying that gun violence doesn’t occur here in Canada but on a per-capita basis, far fewer incidents take place. Our penalty for any infraction of those laws is quite severe and thus we tend to shy away from wanton use of guns. Too, we’ve heard it so many times before, guns don’t kill people, people kill people. What’s wrong with that picture should also be examined in greater detail and this may also become an avenue for gun violence reduction. Just an idea. Thanks.

Meanwhile the criminal/rapist/murderer, having an illegal weapon, as he don’t care for laws much, has a glock with a 17 round capacity stuffed in his pants and an ar-15 pointed at Bidens wife. What a dumb-ass! So Joe, do you recommend #2 or #7 shot for shooting at the sky in self defense, harhar?

The 2nd Amendment is not about home defense. It is about the founding fathers wanting all 300+ million American citizens to know how to defend themselves, their family, and their property. You can not defend yourself with a two shot shotgun when the other guy has a wheel gun. There is already a youtube video of an attacker in California with a gun running away when he is faced with a business that has a AR-15.

But this isn’t about saving lives, it is all about control. If Biden wanted to save lives he’d ban the sale of Alcohol after 9pm, require a national alcohol purchase registry to track number of beers purchased each night and require a wine permit that shows you attended a 5 hour training course.

You take alcohol related gun accidents out of the statistics, and you take out police enforcement of the law out of the statistics, and you easily see that guns save more lives then any. FBI Statistics show baseball bats kill more Americans then semi-auto rifles do.

But again, this isn’t about saving lives, it is about taking away freedom.

I believe that long guns be they rifles or shotguns are poor home defense weapons. My personal choice is a revolver with frangible rounds winch do not go through a wall and kill my children. Other people can make their own choice it is not my place to decide for them. My biggest regret is that I will suffer permanent hearing damage if I ever need to use my revolver. A suppressed .45 auto would be my first choice but the firearms act of 1934 makes suppressors so expensive.

Wow, the stupidity of Biden’s statement is astounding. And at several levels too; recommending someone shoot a weapon randomly into the air, advising your wife to empty the gun when intruders are approaching, and telling the world what your home defense system is.

A much more sane statement might be “get a home security system with a panic button, so police can be summoned immediately to help you”. That way innocent neighbors don’t get accidentally shot.

really? you gun supporters are not really that bright… you know that? it said plain as can be that the house is in a wooded secluded area. if firing a shotgun in the air is a danger to his more than likely very distant neighbors. then all of these redneck shooting skeet, animals, cans, cars, and kitchen appliances every week around where i live are really putting my life in danger.

maybe someone should arrest those rednecks and hucklebucks for putting our lives in danger?

Yes, that’s right. More gun murders were committed with
shotguns than with all types of rifles combined.

@humankind, thats exactly why im so hessitant to fire my gun in doors. I hope you and I are never put in that position.

@Ralphoo “If it is still easy to buy a shotgun, but becomes difficult and risky to buy an assault rifle, potential school or workplace shooters would not be able to kill so many people so quickly”
-theres 2 un-true statments here.
1) Buying and Shotgun and a Semi auto Rifle are the same. Both require a 2 week waiting period for a FBI background check. Thats it.
2) Using a 12 Guage pump action shotgun, is a just as deadly as AR-15 for close range mass shootings like the one here in Newtown.
Adam Lanza used a semi auto rifle, killed 27
Anders Brevik used a pistol, killed 77.

@Morbas “The 2cd Amendment was conceived in a era of single round, awkward to handle gunnary”
Using this logic, then free speech isnt covered on TV, the Internet, and Radio becuase they werent around when the constituion was written. Also its very easy to tell you know Zip about guns. Get yourself educated about Firearms.

@Ejhickey, thats why girls love AR-15s.
