The war continues as expected. The fighting in Goa, Kidal, and Khalil fits the normal pattern of unconventional war. Insurgents strike where the regimes appear weak. Regimes retaliate. Violence continues.

The question is who can absorb the costs better. The French economy grew at only 0.2% while neighboring trading partners Spain were -1.4%, Italy -1.3%, Belgium -0.2%, Netherlands -0.3%, Germany +0.8%. France is in a poor financial condition, and its neighboring trade partners, except Germany, also suffer. France cannot afford a long war.
