I think that they are overlooking a significant factor. I went into our local Penny’s store and it currently has very little inventory as compared to previous visit and now 1/2 of the mens/boys section has baby clothes. I see nothing in the store any more for me to purchase, I lost customer, its not the loss of coupons or sales, it is the lack of desirable inventory selections (what little there is). They have missed the problem.

Of course the boutiques are preforming well. They don’t have any other merchandise to compete with it. If you going to JCP you have buy in their “shops” or deal with such a lack of selection, that you can’t find anything. I visited two seperate Penny’s to find simple denim shorts for my 12mo old and they didn’t have anything. How the board of directors keeps this man is beyond me. I’d feel pretty sick after letting go all those wonderful employees, and then trying to blame it on “youtube.” That’s their biggest problem, they traded in all the veteran employee’s who had repeat customers for cash savings. In the end it led to an even deeper loss for their stores.
