We could be roaring back if there was a national incentive for business and industry to plow back a generous percentage of net profits back to the employees; the people who actually build the wealth. If every employee were a partner to the business, the demand for goods and services would explode. This would be a gold mine for owners, consumers, and the government. New jobs follow from increased demand. And new revenue occurs when more people are at work. The government does not have the money. If the right incentives are in place, this will work. See profitsharing uprising.

It’s guardedly “so-so”.
When the BLS shows the unemployment rate going down AND the labor participation rate simultaneously going UP, then things are getting better, not until.
That’s the way we will know that more of the population is trying to go back into the workforce, and enough of them are finding jobs that unemployment is still coming down.

The way things have gone for the past 4 years, a smaller and smaller percentage of the population is working. Creating jobs and lowering the unemployment rate is nice, but not enough. If we had
66% of the population working before, and end up with only 60%, then even if they are all employed, that is a disaster. It means that all the work of the nation has simply been heaped upon fewer people.

Mar 8th, the new unemployment and participation rates come out. Stay tuned.
