Cardinals head to conclave, Church beset by woes
They should elect Petrus Romanus. He’s an excellent candidate with a long and impressive resume.
@renumeratedfrog: he he, good one :)
Compare Jesus ,in his travels , preaching his gospel with the pomp going on in the enclave of the Vatican . He had no valet, personal chef, secretaries, limousines ,fancy costumes living in a luxurious palace.
The appointing of a pope by around 100 Cardinals, living in similar circumstances as the Pope ,is nothing more than inside politics and a popularity contest .
Is this what Christ visualized when he asked Peter to build his Church on this rock?

woes, these peeps have no woes, well except that jesus wasn’t the son of god or born from a virgin, wasn’t even the first born of mary, and they know it. deny yourself a woman and your mind finds children

The Conclave will fail if it doesn’t call a general council by year end, as well as elect a Pope. There are no Papal Supermen available. A council is needed to return the Church to a consensual and accountable basis as the Church the Jesus’ first followers left behind and intended. Otherwise, it is business as usual, Vatican style!
Since the Cardinals have already capitulated on their unmet demand to read the Vatican’s secret scandals dossier, failure seems likely.
Cleaning up the Church will then fall to governmental commissions, including Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s present Australian one, and likely new ones set up by Chancellor Merkel and President Obama.
