The voting public in Texas agrees with this bill! 5 months is plenty of time for a woman to decide. Babies at or near 20 weeks have complex brain function and feel pain. They are “alive” by any reasonable scientific definition. The abortion industry is swimming in money and should be forced to provide adequate clinics for the women they serve. Have you people not been watching the horror of what happened in Pennsylvania?!!

In almost every European country the cut off for on-demand abortions is 12 weeks and I don’t know of any other nation that allow them after 18 weeks. This a common sense bill that is honest about the science of life and protects innocent and helpless human beings.

The only people against this bill are ideologues who are unwilling to be honest about what is living in the womb at 20 weeks.

Good for Texas. May the rest of the nation follow suit.

Also the life of the mother is put at risk the longer they wait to have an abortion. Once you get up past 20 weeks the mortality rate is quiet similar to giving birth so there is no real “saving the life” of the mother. This law helps protect women from the fanatics who think that any baby should be aborted so the mom can go out and have more sex with no consequences. There are ALWAYS consequences.

20 weeks is enough time to find out you’re pregnant, get prenatal testing and make a decision. I’m usually not in favor of these restrictions, but come on. Remember that abortions are not only used for unwanted pregnancies, but also for wanted pregnancies where a fetal abnormality is detected. Tests can be done as early as 10 weeks.

My son was born at 26 weeks. Anyone who thinks a fetus even close to that age cannot feel pain is clueless. We were warned about all sorts of birth defects, but my son developed completely normal and is now the smartest kid in his class. What most people do not realize is that babies ARE virtually FULLY developed at 26 weeks. My son was born at just over 2 lb. but was 18 inches long. He looked like a “minature adult” in terms of his body proportions. The last weeks of pregnancy are more about the baby putting on weight – but they are COMPLETELY developed far before actual birth. The only difficult hurdle with survival at that point is the lungs, and several doses of surfactin (milky fluid that causes lung cell to open up and function) was all my son needed to not just survive – but to be a completely healthy and normal kid – he was very low on weight percentiles for the first couple years, but now at age 14 he is on his way to 6′+, and no one would ever guess he was born prematurely. (His birth occurred when the umbilical cord got wrapped around his neck and he fought as it started to strangle him and tore it loose – requiring an emergency c-section). Anyone who would “abort” a baby past 20 weeks is absolutely committing a murder, and if you’ve never held a mid 20′s premie in your arms – then keep your mouth shut.

Want the right to murder?, then move out of Texas. Maybe California will pass abortion rights to 20 weeks after birth and give you more choices and freedom. Then life will be good, am I right?

Aborting a baby after 20 weeks in the womb is not about a woman’s “right to choose”. They already have a choice. What kind of a person needs that much time to decide? Why would any human being with any intelligence need 5 months to make up their mind? Why is this not a problem in other nations, most have a time restriction, most likely for humane reasons. Any child that as been is the womb for 5 months is a viable human infant . I bet that those who don’t care if an infant is killed at 20 weeks, when they do feel pain and are viable, wouldn’t dare wear a real fur coat because it’s cruelty against animals. I’m sure they have tears in their eyes every time they see the ASPCA commercial on TV. Speaking of choices, why limit it to babies in the womb? It only makes sense that a woman should be able to kill her kids when she gets tired of them, too. Same difference, isn’t it a “choice”?

The irony of this whole issue is the fact that Wendy Davis has hijacked the abortion aspect and turned it into a spectacle of “men can’t tell us what to do with our bodies”. But, as usual when you get a bunch of old biddies hollering about “choice”, they always over look that fact that they already made their choice by becoming pregnant and of course with the total and complete lack of responsibility already exhibited by these types, “no problem, I’ll just murder the baby”, problem solved, until the next time! see this is the ultimate version of liberal compromise, in that they refuse to compromise ever. we say hey us conservatives think its wrong to kill a baby six months into pregnancy to lets make it five months in. the liberals refuse it, demanding the right to have their own children exterminated. its bad enough my tax dollars are used for this something I am religiously opposed to but they have to be obnoxious and demand that they have the right to kill there kid at any time they please. its pathetic, liberals need to just leave texas if they think it sucks here. except oh wait they can’t since conservative states are the only ones with jobs.

The legislatures in several states have passed late-term abortion restrictions. Texas’ law is no different from those. The progressive movement wants late-term abortions for convenience which, unless for absolute medical reasons, is nothing less than butchery as well as awarding of an irresponsible behavior by doing another.

Congratulations to the legislators in Texas for taking a logical, common sense approach to a difficult situation by crafting legislation that protects the life of unborn babies, while ensuring women will only be treated by legitimate, licensed medical doctors in safe and appropriate surgical facilities (not the assembly line abortion mills called Planned Parenthood). Those women who are so irresponsible as to wait until after 20 weeks may adjourn to another state to receive their abortion. Nothing is stopping them.

Dental clinics aren’t required to follow the rules of a hospital.
Though I am totally opposed to the law, I say that the women of Texas have the power to boot the guys (and women) who passed this oppressive law out of office and I fervently hope they do so.
