The day will soon come when over-the-air broadcasting will be a thing of the past. People will be able to receive all of their content by streaming it from the internet. The cable providers will be reduced to only providing internet connections since landline phone service will also be a thing of the past. While some of the current over-the-air providers (both local and network) will switch their programming to the web, others will simply go out of business. The days of the greedy cable providers fighting with the greedy television networks over payment for carrying content will soon be gone. A side benefit from this move to the web is that the bandwidth currently used for TV broadcasting can be auctioned off to the wireless industry which could add $billions to the national treasury.

It just runs me ragged to think that millions would not see CBS content if cable companies choose to not air them.So why is the broadcast companies like CBS,have clout at all? Seems to me it is backwards. CBS should be paying to get there content on air .Because if they (the cable companies )don’t put them on air then the CBS,ABC,NBC broadcast companies would lose out. so why is the cable company having to pay the broadcast companies. clearly the cable companies have the upper hand sense most people are on either cable or satellite.Yes CBS has good shows but still to get them out to the masses then they should have to pay not the ones who puts them on air.

“We offered to pay reasonable increases, but CBS’s demands are out of line and unfair,” Time Warner said in a statement. “They want Time Warner Cable to pay more than others pay for the same programming.”

Sounds exactly like how Time Warner treat their own customers…
