Most Americans would say, “China take your complaint and shove it!”

I would also wager the Filipinos, Vietnamese, Japanese, Australians and the Indians would concur with the same sentiments.

China needs to stop its gunboat diplomacy. Claiming the whole South China Sea is ridiculous. China is hopefully aware of the mutual defense treaty between the USA and Japan. Any provocations or other missteps around the Sentaku Islands could lead to full scale war. Is that worth a few rocks in the sea? China has the chance to share the resources of the South China Sea with all the nations that border it, and Japan has repeatedly offered to jointly develop resources in the Japan Sea. That is the mature, responsible approach. Does China have a mature responsible government? That is the question.

On the other hand unleash Eddie Murphy on China and I quote him from one of his famous songs:

“In your butt, put the boogie in your butt
Say, put a tree in your butt
Put a bumblebee in your butt
Put a clock in your butt
Put a big rock in your butt
Say, put some fleas in your butt
Say, start to sneeze in your butt
Say, put a tin can in your butt
Put a little tiny man in your butt”

Is it conceivable that this is surprising? The average man on the street has been bitching for years that selling out the American worker to Chinese interests is a very real potential breach of national security.

Apparently the smartest man in the room is highly educated but poorly schooled. So,,,keep giving corporate big shots everything they want and leave the rest of us to pick up the check.

This is trick stuff. I wonder if some decent translation would help. I don’t know where they got the Chinese discourse from but there is “不要发出自相矛盾的错误信号” which is saying “Don’t put out contradictory mistaken signals.” Being friendly on the one hand and criticizing on the other. DIfferent approaches to government here. In the PRC a bunch of politicians would not speak out of turn, the Foreign Affairs Bureau does the talking. In the US different discourses come out of different channels. That’s just the way things go.

Of course, the whole thing is just the PRC trying to push an agenda, and the US sticking its nose in the Spratley dispute. There is that too.

This is simple, why is our government making any determinations from half way across the globe? Hey USA, this is a China and UN issue. We are not the world policemen. File the issue with the UN and let them figure it out.
