Der Spiegel has reported today that their military intelligence has listened to communications from Syria’s government which in their opinion confirms that the government has used the chemical weapons.
This is unfortunate because Obama, who is not above lying, will be vindicated in the eyes of a dumbed down American public.
I did not make my comment yet ! please let me finish , anyway how to speed up defections from Assad ,is it not possible a lot of them maybe defecting only when they see that Assad has become a a black mark on Syria ,ok it is difficult to escape ,but Assad has been slaughtering his people fo
Good post, I was about to post the same thing. From Now Lebanon:
German weekly Der Spiegel reported that Berlin’s BND intelligence agency had spied on a phone call between a Hezbollah official and an Iranian embassy in which the former implicated the Syrian regime in the August 21 chemical strike outside Damascus.
On topic, I wonder how many security officers and/or police are watching officials, officers and other high ranking people to prevent them from defecting. To do it 24/7 would take at least two spies per individual, most likely three. Maybe the reason the regime is having such a hard time with the fight is because of all the people they have tied up watching the people who want to leave.
Smart choice to get out. Because if we don’t bomb Assad, Israel will. The bombs are coming.
Obama has to be a hockey player here. “Take the man, not the puck”!
You gotta run intelligence for a month and then boom – drop the bomb right on his head when he’s in the John dropping an Assad. If his family gets killed or damaged – this is Assadic karma.
It will put a very very strong message on using chemical weapons for a few years across many nations and not destabilize the country. Surgical and effective as a deterrent.
This is a mild version of that 2 am phone call Mrs. Clinton was talking about during the 2008 primary. Unless it’s something like “we have Osama bin Laden delivered to you on a silver platter” he is clearly at a loss.
He said he had “plans and contingencies” in the same speech he brought up the “red line”, but so far he has shown he either lied about those plans or (more likely) is dithering and hesitating on those plans because he senses possible political damage.
Intelligence should have already “run for a month”, or about 6 months to be exact. Maybe they’ll go in and find a bunch of nuclear weapons that used to be in Iraq…
The way to end the war in Syria is to take out Assad. Just one man, but take him out and it is over!
One election, in 2011, could have avoided all of this mess. This did not have to happen.
Getting rid of Assad is only one concern. We are encouraged to believe the fighting in Syria is exclusively a civil war. We already more or less know it’s at least a ‘regional’ war and now there’s more information to clarify underlying causes. This should not surprise us – “gas/oil” – who controls it, and who controls its marketing and distribution: http://www.theguardian.com/environment/earth-insight/2013/aug/30/syria-chemical-attack-war-intervention-oil-gas-energy-pipelines.
“I don’t know where this number came from,” Abdul-Rahman said in a phone interview. “The U.S. took this high number from one part of the Syrian opposition that is supported by the U.S. government,” Abdul-Rahman said. “We don’t trust them.”
Welcome to the club, Ab! Fast n Furious, Obamacare, Benghazi, you name it and the WH will frame it – with their facts. Or if it suits their agenda, deny your facts while presenting none of their own.
