Cost of ownership including fuel efficiency, insurance, and maintenance will be the critical element for success. Many younger buyers will also be paying student loans while working for lower pay and less job security. Leasing will become ever more popular because younger people will have their access to credit restricted.

PS, the author totally ignored car-sharing models by some automakers, like BMW (through its Alphabet division)
