Given how impossible compromise has been in DC, why wouldn’t he bypass Congress when possible.

@euro-yank and Danzig83- There are a lot of things that are possible, but not legal. It is best, for both sides of the aisle, that we keep our presidents within the bounds of the law. Otherwise, you will live under tyranny of a dictatorship. I would not want that even if I agreed with the party in power on 100% of the items they were doing. Not a good spot to be.

Which law is Obama breaking by using executive orders? Be specific, don’t waffle. Tell us which one so we can all check it.

Well, I’ll give president (lower case intended) Obama this. He said he was going to ‘fundamentally transform the United States of America.’ Yep. That’s what he doing, and thus far it looks as though it’s being transformed into a mess that no one gets to debate, challenge, or delete. Also remember, conservatism is not the exclusive right of Republicans. Conservative values are shared with Democrats, Independents, very much with Libertarians, and Tea Party.

I wouldn’t really worry all that much about Obama’s pen and phone powers. His rhetoric and proselytizing is just a repeat of his never ending “solutions” to make things better. Just like he was going to cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term. Yep. Okay, and how did that turn out again? Anything that happens on the job front is going to happen in spite of him, not because of him.

@Bakhtin- You can start with the ACA changes that were unlawfully made. For some reason I feel certain you will disagree as people with infatuations typically can not see reality when it comes to the person they are infatuated with.

Political process? WHAT political process? Thanks to Congressional Republicans, there is none. Obama has reached across the aisle again and again, only for this extremist party to reject everything out of hand because they do not believe their opponents have the right to enact their agenda even when a majority of Americans vote them into office. It is the Republicans here who are abusing their power and attempting to subsume the rest of the country beneath the will of the minority.

Congress has abdicated it’s authority for decades now and primary during W’s administration. If they don’t like an imperial president then they need to grow a pair. They have sat by idley while rome burned. Will congress reduce the NSA spying on americans? Will congress restore habeas corpus? Will congress pass legislation to counter citizens united as well as campaign reforms of other types? No, they don’t get to do this whine. They need to put up or shut up, and since their such a bunch of weak, silver spoon fed, permanently infantile creeps, I suggest they shut up and follow orders like the bunch of mindless zombies that they are. The three branches of government are supposed to be balanced so that no one branch dominates and destroys are freedoms. Congress has been AWOL for 35 years and are the primary reason we have many of the issues we have. But hey, they get re-elected, and that’s the most important thing to them.

I asked you to be specific and tell us which laws Obama has broken. You can’t do it. If you can’t specify which law was broken, then obviously it never happened,

@4825 – I agree that balance of power is important. Given his legal education, I’m sure the President will stay inside the letter of the law. But why try to negoiate with people who refuse to compromise? I think if I were in his shoes, I’d go for what I can while I can.
