A sympathetic way to look at it: Zimmerman was vilified in the media, and even after he was acquitted a lot of people still believe he’s evil. If I was in that situation, I might just say, “to hell with you all,” and then do whatever crazy stuff I wanted to do, regardless of what others think (for Zimmerman, apparently that’s boxing with celebrities).

A less sympathetic view: Zimmerman is now out to exploit his infamy to make as much money as he can.

This wasn’t a “notorious crime” Reuters. This was a case of obvious self-defense.

“In his 2013 trial, Zimmerman was accused of…shooting Martin…as [he] was returning from a convenience store.”

That’s not what happened, of course. We learned from the testimony of the prosecution’s star witness, Rachel Jeantel, that Martin lost Zimmerman and made it safely home. Martin re-crossed the neighborhood to confront Zimmerman (Jeantel testimony). Martin was committing felonious assault and battery (John Good testimony) at which point he was shot in self defense. Juror E54 has since established it was Martin’s making it home safely then going back out in search of Zimmerman that led directly to the ‘not guilty’ verdict.

If you didn’t want everyone to know what happened that night, you should not have demanded the unnecessary show trial. If you did not know that Martin made it safely home then went looking for Zimmerman, you should question your ‘news’ sources. Ask yourselves, “why did Reuters et al. wish to keep me uninformed of the most important details of the case? Should I trust them to make me stupid about other events?”

This is incorrect. Leftists in the media put the spotlight on the SYG law. The trial had absolutely nothing to do with the SYG law. We learned in a pre-trial hearing that the defense waived the SYG defense as it did not apply to the situation. Zimmerman could not retreat while Martin was sitting on top of him pounding his head on a concrete walkway. It’s impossible to retreat through solid concrete into the ground.

I contend that anytime you are stopped by law enforcement officers that qualifies as a brush with the law. However, the trial has little to do with Zimmerman not qualifying as a celebrity. He is not a celebrity or a hero. He is another man that used the legal loop holes to his advantage. By suggesting he should be able to reap benefits by his notoriety is insane. Legally, he is not guilty of murdering anyone. Morally, he murdered a child. We often need to remind ourselves that it could happen to our children.

ShutTheHellUp. Thank you.

I thought all those same things as I read the article but didn’t want to take the time composing a response to correct it all.

I’m sure that myself, as well as many other readers here, are thankful that you took the time to do so.

Please advise what legal loop holes he used and it was NOT “STAND YOUR GROUND”. He pleaded innocent to Murder II period. AS far as the moral issue were you there that night? Yeah I didn’t think so. The Florida State’s Attorney and Trayvon is where you need to start at morals. They over charged and Trayvon start a fight he shouldn’t have. Zimmerman’s moral mistake was not walking away, not firing a gun in self defense as we found out by a trial.
