According to a story posted on the Nikkei’s English Website, “Back in 2004, alteration of data in a blood study prompted Riken to set up an investigative panel and urge the researchers to retract their paper. The organization has since created rules to prevent recurrences, but apparently not all researchers are fully implementing them.”
