Why am I not impressed. How much is the American tax payer on the hook for this buffoonery? Oh let me guess, this company, (aka cut throat for anything $$) provided jobs and important revenue for the economy. So they can ____ anything up that they want to.

I have no idea how much pollution is involved or how big the cleanup job needs to be, but I am absolutely positive $5 Billion is not enough. Once again the taxpayer will be coming out of pocket for corporate welfare. Paul Ryan, where are you when it really counts?

this is horrible… all you have to read is one line…

“Anadarko said in a statement that it would record a net $550 million tax benefit from the agreement.”

obviously, Anadarko is giddy about the settlement. when will our government stop settling lawsuits out of court with disaster prone companies…Banks, Oil, Agriculture, manufacturing, etc…

first part of the article says more than 2000 sites…but after the settlement is reached Anadrko is responsible for a few dozen. WTF???
