@ engineer99 What “military action”? Ever heard of “mutual assured destruction”? Won’t be a “war” in the conventional sense, the end will come in a matter of minutes. The politicians and generals don’t seem to care, they have their bunkers all stocked up and ready to go…but won’t be anyone left to lead or tax, game over.

This is not really a news story,we do this all the time to China, North Korea and Russia, remember early in the Bush presidency when a US recon plane went down while flying near China and they held the crew for a week or so? As long as the Russian planes stay in international airspace then this is really a non story.

This shows, though, how dumb Putin must be, because if it really is something new then it undercuts the liberals and libertarians in the United States, who want to ignore the situation in Ukraine. I suppose this could be a p.r. stunt on the U.S. side, but then I doubt it because Obama wants to ignore the whole thing, too. What Putin is doing helps the Republican senators who are pushing a bill that would comprehensively target Russia.

It will be interesting to see Chinese doing the same to US territories in the near future. Right now what the Chinese can do is less visible. If something more visible is done like what the Russian did, perhaps this will jolt US people to realise Pivot To Asia is a bad idea! Give China three more years to get an operational fleet of Stealth Long Range Bombers ready for test drive.

Putin, China and others seem to recognize what most of USA citizens, to busy with sports, TV and “broke but charging it and having fun”, miss. USA is rivals third world nations in distribution of wealth, increasingly concentrated at upper end. Education systems for past decades that did not produce the well round informed citizens, elected that are owned by special interests, and a terribly corrupted local, state and sometimes fed Judicial Courts, and lastly violent nation of armed fools running about with guns “to defend us from //// (write in as paranoid’s multi choice item.

The “Of, for and by (buy?) the people, a nation of laws” etc is the myth of USA citizen, who will vote at TV show, but as the 18-34 year old voters do, but lowest participation in REAL vote for government. So when Putin, N Korea, China rattle out chain, they know exactly what will happen. USA special interests will lobby congress for programs (DOD, etc) and increasingly centrally owned media empires will frighten citizens as direct, who do not have education to note today’s reality. Putin et al, know how USA now runs, better then 90% of it citizens and it seems to be working well.

In its unannounced war against Ukraine, Russia relies on covert operations which fall squarely within the definition of “international terrorism” under 18 U.S.C. § 2331.
Specifically, armed operatives of Russia, acting under disguise, attempt to influence the policy of Ukrainian government by intimidation or coercion. They also try to affect the conduct of a government by assassinations and kidnapping, taking by force government buildings, police posts and military bases of Ukraine.
This activity is being conducted on large scale and over prolonged time period, despite condemnation by the USA, G-7, NATO, EU and UN.
Please sign the petition urging the White House to officially designate Russia as “State sponsor of terrorism” – wh.gov/lwuL9
Such status of country would outlaw business of American companies with Russia. Even considering of the petition by Senate and President of USA creating great inconvenience Russian authorities.

It is obvious what is happening here , US wants to control the world by means of weapons or money. This is what is happening if you do something they dislike you will be punished with either by weapons or with sanctions. And when they destroy Afghanistan , Iraq for no reasonable reason it is fair. When they build their bases all around the world it is fair. When they fly over other continents it is fair. When they send war ships to black sea, Indian ocean , china sea it is fair. But if any other country in the world do that it is a threat to the world ? If you do not want any other country to have Nukes lead by example and destroy all your Nuke weapons and ask others to do the same. If you do not want others to invade or send military to other countries lead by example. If you can’t do it how can you expect others to do the same??? We understand that war means more money to US , more money for their defence industry even other industries like gaming benefits from war. But ask why the hell you want to make problems in other parts of the world and make them kill each other just for a printed piece of paper which makes you able to buy fancy cars, buildings etc. A single human life is more valuable than a piece of paper that you call ” Money ” or a piece of land. Our world is already f up if we keep going like this there will be only Weapons and money left in this world to eat in the future. If someone gives you a gun and points their finger at your neighbour who is an Enemy of your country and ask you to kill him can you do that? I can’t , because i know that every human being feels the same pain as i do if i get hurt . How can you pay a soldier to do it for you if you can’t do it by yourself. I am not against US but US is just another country and they can help by not making everyone else in the world angry at each other and by leading by example. This goes to every country in the world. . If a bullet goes through someone in any part of the world tomorrow remember you are responsible for that because you wanted war , you wanted money you made money more important than that humans life , you made marking your boundaries in the world more important that that humans life. Not going to war , Not having Nukes , Not having weapons , not having a car , not having money is okay … it is nothing to be ashamed of and you can still live as long as you have air to breath , water to drink , food to eat and people to live around you. If you do not understand this there is no difference between you and an animal. AGAINST WAR.

Russia still has a few elite divisions but most of their military is outdated and poorly equipped. Their reserves are also almost non-existent. Sure, they have the ability to nuke every corner on Earth but they are in no shape to fight a protracted ground war. Besides, with the exception of chasing foreign invaders back, such as in the Napoleonic Wars and World War 2, Russia has a historically poor track record with military operations outside its home territory. Fly your bombers, hold your parades, intimidate your neighbors, but at the end of the day, what more can they really do?

Ukraine acquisition or another part of it is a ploy although if it works Putin will take it. By doing this, Putin is taking the Crimea off the table; it’s a done deal in his mind and now with the Ukraine “expedition,” maybe it is.

It appears to be similar to American manifest destiny designs of the 19th century. Russia wants the empire back. After that…who knows.
