So, while the PRC is only just now admitting there was a clash, the Vietnamese have already released a pretty damning video showing the PRC vessel ramming the Vietnamese ships.

One marvels at the admixture of incompetence and arrogance only the PRC government seems to yield.

The Chinese have been thugs for centuries. This latest ploy of plunk the rig then hint about talks is just another format for aggression. The Chinese would try to claim the world if they could get away with it. I suggest the world shove them back a few hundred years where their mentality deserves. This country can be no more trusted than North Korea and is about as uncivilized in the manner in which they have historically handled their own people. This is just Tibet on the high seas.

I wonder if their propaganda machine will post someone here to whine about being misunderstood?

Great patience is one of China’s forte. It didn’t start any of this. Vietnam knew long ago that these issues are on an ongoing, almost daily, basis, and must consistently share thoughts and ideas to improve the challenging situation, taking the land border and Bohai Bay as fine examples of good neighbors solving matters peacefully, at the same time expelling interference from other parties that do not help in the resolution.

What will probably happen now is that Viet Nam too will turn to the USA and finally agree to a defence agreement, and then China will be pretty well surrounded by US allies, lose even more influence, and be more effectively contained.

Part of the agreement, to give Viet Nam incentive to agree, will be US manufacturing going to Viet Nam instead of China, adding to the flight of investment away from China.

What China has not figured out is that nobody needs to fight with their rag-tag army equipped with inferior copies of already obsolete technology. All the world needs to do is move their factories out of China to some other country – anyone can do what China does – and China is sunk. Indeed, the trend to look elsewhere for cheap labour has already begun.

Why shouldn’t China do law enforcement on her territory just like how the Japanese hose Taiwanese fishing vessels off Diaoyu/Senkaku? Just like the Philippines arrested Chinese fishermen off Half Moon Shoals? I see dishonest people around here who seems to think only China can be blamed for any law enforcement action. Notice in all three cases, all the governments are holding on to disputed territories and they all do law enforcements. China have every right too, don’t you think?

Vietnam can claim 200 miles EEZ, so can China based on her claim over Paracels. Rights to sea flows from land/island, so if Vietnam is smart she should not go out and harass Chinese ships which are within Paracels 200 miles EEZ. She can try in an orderly way by going to UN if she have a case.

You mean the Paracels that China annexed from Vietnam by force in 1974? Yeah… totally legal. Why didn’t China go to the UN to claim the Paracels instead of invading and occupying?

And no… you can’t invade and occupy somebody else’s territory and then claim an EEZ around the occupied territory.

And NO, you cannot have the other part of the Spratlys and claim your own and make the EEZ from there. Revive the dead Marcos and throw back the Kalayaan into the pot, so are the other Vietnamese and Malaysian islands/shoals. As a matter of fact the Vietnamese and Philippines got the biggest chunk of the Spratlys. They break the Rule of Law, why nobody make a fuss? Bias? So everybody, including Taiwan, China throw everything back into the pot and let UN control the Spratlys OK?

So the Chinese lost territory years ago, and it passed through many hands since then. Big deal. By way of information, The Tay-son rebellion (1764 to 1801) in China occupied Vietnam (Annam) threw China out of the country. Is China going to claim now it wants that territory because it was once theirs? Nonsense. This is just an adolescent game of China’s narcissistic schoolyard bully mentality of its so-called leadership. Vietnam needs to destroy that oil rig.As I said, this is nothing but China playing out its Tibet tactic on the high seas.

Vietnam is going to pot in a hand-held basket given by the Vietnamese Communist Party. Only if Vietnam aligns with Japan, the U.S., ASEAN and the Philippines will only then will Communist China think twice.

Clever, but having a history that goes back a few thousand years is meaningless in the context of today. Much of that Chinese history was nothing more than squabbling warlords and emperors who just decimated while populations for the fun of it. They were also known to speak to the gods. We have people today who still talk to God at street corners. That argument is not impressive.

By the way I should change my name here to fyc to pay back your political sleaze of fyus. You are probably sitting somewhere in polluted China in a Communist Party Propaganda building. Then, the us will have two options, “you’re either with us, or against us”.

It’s like a thief speeding away from the cops and getting into an accident and blaming the cops for making him run away. This is insane. China is insane!

Does anyone in the Chinese government have a sound mind or are they all going looney and nuts? They draw up imaginary maps and call Asian seas part of China. They don’t care if no one recognizes their lunatic maps.

Does the world see what China is doing? Can anyone see? Are we all blind to whatever China thinks is right? It has come to a point where the world must stand up to China and say, “Enough is enough!! We will not allow you (China) to set the rules and move the goal posts whenever it suits you!”

They think if they can continue to sell their stuff at Walmart, the world has to kowtow to them? No sir. We will not allow China to do that.

China must be STOPPED! They are getting out of control. The world must unite before it is too late.

It’s not contested water. The area is located within Vietnam’s Exclusive Economic Zone – EEZ. The act of moving the oil rig to Vietnam’s EEZ is illegal and against the international peace. China infact carries fire in one hand and water in the other. China has to get out of Vietnam’s waters and also remove their U shape ridiculous water border.
