There were Ukrainians (and a Georgian called Stalin) amongst the Soviets that deported the Tatars.

And really, the Tatars are also invaders, the Greeks (which were moved to Mariupol) were there before.

It being that these are Sunni Muslims, I sincerely hope they don’t start strapping on explosive vests on orders from Washington’s (and Israel’s) best new friends – the Gulf Arab autocrats.

Do neither. Ignore them in the countryside. Carryon with your lives. Russia cannot afford Crimea and will have to ‘divorce’ sooner than later.

There are a lot of Russians now, out of shame perhaps, who just want to forget the mass criminality of Stalin, the standardbearer of Russian communism in the 20th century, who along with Hitler himself stand as the worst criminals of the 20th century. The Tatars were just one set of victims. There were many others.

Stalin was Georgian
Kruschev was Ukrainian
Both were Soviets
Why fear the Russians now?
The West tries to make all evil from the Soviet era as Russian. Russians shouldn’t be ashamed of what Stalin did, Georgians perhaps.

I don’t even understand why such a small minority gets so much special attention. There is around 500’000 Ukrainians in Crimea too, why nobody mentions them? Is it because many of them support Russia?

“In less than two months Russia has done far more for the Crimean Tatars than Ukraine ever did. Only after Crimea became part of Russia did Kiev even remember that we exist,” said Milli Firka’s chairman, Vasvi Abduraimov.

Russian President Vladimir Putin recently awarded Abduraimov the order “For services before the Fatherland,” second-class, for backing the annexation.”

That’s all I had to read in this article. It won’t tell me how much $$ Abduraimov got from Putin with his second-class medal anyway…

“Stalin accused the Tatars of sympathizing with Nazi Germany”, wasn’t it Russia that signed the Nazi–Soviet Pact that allowed Hitler to flourish in 1939? And they accused the Ukrainians of being Nazi sympathizers but the Ukrainians eventually got screwed by Hitler, as Russia did.

There were many nations that populated the Crimea before the Tartars did: Scythes, Magyars, Goths, and Slavs, before that Tartars arrived with the Mongols. Greek colonists were also present, notably in Kherson.

Crimean Tatars arrived with the Mongols and colonized the place, they were not the first and they actually forced out the other inhabitants, and not natives like the Medjlis likes to claim. Then for centuries they were a state which relied on raiding Ukrainian and Russian territory to capture peasants and then sell them as slaves in the Ottoman Empire, basically a nation which lived as slave-traders. Then in WW2 many of them participated actively in finding and reporting Soviet partisans, and they often brutally killed the partisans themselves to help the Germans. In 1944 the NKVD HQ in Moscow got reports which suggested that 90% of the Crimean Tatars had been active and willing collaborators so they decided to deport them. Still no Crimean Tatar has not apologized for the slave trading before 1784 and collaboration with Nazi Germany 1941-1944.
