Professional sports franchises are private businesses.

Isn’t there some public business the politically correct, democrat – dominated Senate can attend to?

Not much with a supermajority Senate filibuster threatening. So much for GOP claims of DEM control of the Senate.

How do people rationalize that the team name is offensive? First, unless any of these senators are native American, they need to but out and shut up. Secondly, why is eveyone always looking for a a reason to be offended? Most cases of being offended are only because someone was not truly offended but because someone or group analyzed the situation to death until they found an angle, valid or not, where they could claim it was offensive. Most have no idea what being offended is really about.

Way to go, all you Senators busily taking faux umbrage. The Redskins name far exceeds in
importance the sorry state of hundreds of ex-NFL players suffering debilitating injuries
for the rest of their lives. The Senators really know how to pick the real issues.

purcelc–I don’t have a lot of sympathy for ex-NFL players with debilitating injuries. They were aware of the risks when they picked their profession. Many of them were paid millions of dollars to play and millions more in endorsements. Our military, police officers and firemen also suffer debilitating injuries. They are also aware that they are risking their lives in the line of duty. But at least they are doing it to serve others. If football ceased to exist, it wouldn’t matter much in the scheme of things. Senator, fix the crisis at the VA if you really want to do something productive with your time.

I guess it is offensive to Native Americans because it reduces the race/culture to just the color of their skin. It’s as offensive as “Blackskins” would be to Africans, or “Yellowskins” would be to Asians.

It simply doesn’t bother you because you are devoid of empathy and are utterly incapable of putting yourself in someone else’s shoes. Which is why you’re a conservative ;)

Goodell, a disgusting excuse for an NFL commissioner, is a huge p.c. suck-up, so he’ll cave to the thought police in a heartbeat. Then Goodell, a huge p.c. suck-up, will now put pressure on Snyder, who’s another p.c. suck-up, to change the name. But Snyder, a big contributor to Obama and a hard-core lefty himself, will have a big choice to make: Trash a $1 billion icon and risk the wrath of his season ticketholders? Or kowtow to the Marxists in his party?

Sad day when politics and political correctness entered sports. It was the one place where fans could seek refuge from all the nonsense.

For 6 years Obama and every single Democrat in the Senate have LIED to us about Obamacare, “If you like your plan you can keep your plan”, and about JOBS, and about economic growth, and about our standing in the world. Obama and the Democrats have given us the worst economic growth and worst UNEMPLOYMENT since the Great Depression, and the biggest loss of income for working Middle Class Americans since the Depression. So this is how they spend their time? 50 Democrats Senators take the time to write a letter to the NFL complaining about the name of the Red Skins? Folks, come November every lying, lazy, worthless Democrat Senator anywhere on the ballot in this nation need to be kicked to the gutter by the voters. This is just STUPID!

Perhaps they realized that they would be better off spending their time (and thus our money) on matters of real, immediate importance.

Finally, a scandal that the Democrats can pursue. What did the Koch brothers have to do with this again?

Sometimes these Dems just make pronouncemnts. There is no reason…….just trying gain some votes for their next election. Redskins was a most suppported name when it was used as proud moniker with the football team nearly 60 years ago. 80% of natives approve the name. It’s that smal minority trying to support something( anything) that keeps this nonsense up. Noticing that the owner can call his team what he wants. He doesn’t have to ask anyone. Even if he did, the decision on this name was made decades ago. Cantwell is an idiot who has done nothing with her time in DC. She bought her seat with her own $8 million from her software company. She is a disgrace to our fair state.

I think there comes a time in America when all Americans should stand up and tell the politicians to do their job and stop picking on things that are none of their business. The job you are doing in Washington is the worst in this country’s history; we are losing jobs to other countries, in debt over our heads because of the big spending problem, you have a VA scandal staring you in the face, there is an investigation into why 4 Americans that were killed in Benghazi, and a possible cover-up by the Obama administration to protect his election campaign, the possible use of the IRS to stop Republican conservatives from winning an election against the Democrats, and you are picking on something that has nothing to do with the jobs you were elected to do for America.

You are all acting like a bunch of children, no let me take that back even children are smarter than you, so let me rephrase it to say; you are like a bunch of uneducated idiots that have no idea of why you are in Washington in the first place This country is on the verge of utter disaster and all you are concerned with is the Redskins name that has been in existence for over 80 years, and I do not believe that one Native American Indian really cares one way or another about the name. I am part American Indian and I am proud to see the name Redskins used for such a great sports team. It shows respect and tells me that I belong to a powerful race of respect people that were the first to inhabit this fine country.

I do not see one Republican wasting valuable time worrying about a name that was picked for a sports team. I notice that every time a Democrat is found doing something wrong lately, you always pull the race card to change the subject hoping the charges will go away. The American people are wise to all of your corrupt tactic’s by now and I am sure when it comes to your re-election they will remember how small and meaningless you have become in Washington, and will replace you with a more intelligent group of Americans.
