Say Goodbye to Business & Industry.
IF you raise the Minimum wage to $15, then everyone making $15 or $16 will want a raise to keep parity it will spiral up driving the cost of EVERYTHING up.
The dollar store will become the 5 dollar store.
The dollar menu will become the 5 dollar menu.
Of course the politicians are for this, it looks good in an election year, but deep down, if you double minimum wage you get to double the taxes on those employees. More money for the city and state. And lets be honest these guys have proven they have NO ability to manage money in a responsible manner.
Thank You

Why further your education anymore? Just get a minimum wage job and your set. Wish I knew this earlier, I would have saved all that money going to school.

.It is very simple,
watch what happens when you raise minimum wage by such
a dramatic amount.
.
1. Due to the Fed and artificially low interest rates
companies will borrow more money to invest in software,
hardware, and robotics, write off the investment,
and write off workers.
.
There is no need for a worker when you can borrow money
and put in a robot at nearly no cost, and not have to
worry about scheduling, health, or any other worker complaint.

.
2. Illegal immigrant, undocumented worker, foreigners,
whatever your choice of term is, will gladly take up
available low wage offers. The town adjoining mine literally
has 100′s of workers each morning get off the train and get
picked up by local contractors.

.
3. Many local honest small businesses will simply
go out of business. your local deli won’t make
money making you a $ 10 tuna fish sandwich.
.
. Either that or they will severally cut back hours.
.
4. Business will move, either another state across the
country, or an adjoining state, and simply do business
in your state. Or of course they will simply move out
of the country to Korea, Vietnam or other low wage,
low regulation, no union Country, and ship the goods in.

.
5. When businesses move, so do the employees, look at
Detroit. There will be a reduced tax base.
Tax revenue will ultimately decline.
.
.
. This silliness of the ‘ magic ‘ of raising a
wage and everyone will make more money and therefore
spend more money is just that, silliness.

The American worker will have fewer jobs, higher unemployment,
greater social dependency, greater drug and alcohol abuse,
less marriage, reduced homeownership, etc. So that is what Chicago has to look forward to if they move forward with this plan.
.
. It may take a while, but it sure will be interesting to watch.
.
. NET RESULT
fewer jobs
fewer hours
higher unemployment
flight to other state and country
lower tax base
lower tax revenue

hello Detroit.

So everyone starts making more, then people start to charge more for everyday goods and services therefore negating the raise. These people will be in streets marching for $30 an hour in a few years. Unless we can stop the Federal Reserve from debasing our currency.
