Banding together and provoking can only complicate matters raising the concern of a protracted and more difficult process for resolution.

Whether banding together or not, but ASEAN must have a united voice and tell china it is of what it is “aggression” will not be tolerate. Indonesia and Malaysia must remember this: if Vietnam fall then you will be next, what make you think chinese will treat you any differently.

That’s the point – we should treat each other as equals. You treat me nice, then I will too. Simple logic.

Meaning. “Give me all your money (Territory) and nobody gets hurt!”

Hopefully, the conflicts between China and Japan don’t escalate over the next several years as the World’s economies contract. Japan is in an economic hole (of debt) that it cannot possibly get out of, and China (as a still expanding economy) clearly wants a global voice. Are they on a collision course?

China is simply trying to pizz off the world, but the question is why? It has all to do with solidifying the Chinese people to support the government because there are enemies of China. China, in essence, is purposely creating enemies to rally the home base and galvanize the communist party’s tenure. China knows that economics will smooth over any skirmishes at sea.

The only resolution China will accept is 90% of the SCS, as evidenced by their “indisputable” statements.

@marisa,
“China is simply trying to pizz off the world, but the question is why?”

The Chinese government has put itself into the position where other nation’s EEZs are seen by the Chinese people as Chinese **territory** (not EEZ/commons, but actual territory). The Chinese government, and by extension the Communist Party cannot back down without losing face – and perhaps losing the Mandate of Heaven (which still exists culturally).

All the more necessary to keep talking and find common ground, like marine and scientific exploration and development, joint ventures, research and environment studies, etc. Only the lazy and the uneducated do nothing but complain and beg for free lunch.

China is the new Nazi in Asia. China is acting as a real bully and harassing smaller neighbors the way none of the developed countries could do. Its asian neighbors have now realized china’s true face and will take all the necessary steps to protect itself. What China gets back from their action is suspicion, disrespect, and no allies. How come china can become a power if it has no real soft power, no allies, no respect, no followers. China will never flourish because of their short vision and the Hannism that consider themselves the center of the world.
