“Heather Dawson, the city administrator of Hailey, Idaho, said town officials called off the June 28 event at the request of organizers because the town “will be unable to safely manage the number of people expected.”

Translation: “If we put this traitor on parade as a hero, we will have Veterans and other patriotic Americans here by the thousands protesting.”

NEVER expect a democrat to tell the truth.

The army has had five years to investigate. And they made members of his platoon sign “non-disclosure” agreements regarding their testimony. The army know he deserted and is too PC to say it.

Saying he’s “suffered enough” does not cut it. At least 6 died trying to find/rescue him. Have they “suffered enough”? Put him on trial and then in Leavenworth and be done with him.

Most of the time the line between heroism and stupidity is very thin. As is the line between patriots and traitors. Sooo thin that they sometimes overlap.

Shame on those who hate America enough to threaten this town’s welcome home to their hometown son. I think many of these “I support the troops” bumper stickers are hoo haws smoothing their vanity to look good in the eyes of their betters.

Anyone that says Americans “need to give a chance to say his piece” is an idiot. It’s been very clear for years that he’s a traitor. I would like to see him hanged by the neck before 7 days have passed.

Unfortunately for you and this precious sergeant abandoning your post and comrades without your weapon is the definition of desertion.

The Taliban don’t have to attack America, with messages like this, we’re evidently doing enough damage to ourselves. I can hear the Taliban laughing at us from here.

Lots of unsubstantiated info floating around. First, if he “abandoned before” and left a note that he was sick of war and was leaving, then why would they have risked soldiers’ lives to go find him? Stupid…

He didn’t take up arms with the enemy, he essentially went AWOL. I guess he should have realized he would have to kill without conscience before he joined up.

It is also irrelevant as even if he is guilty of the above, the US has a vested interest in retrieving POWs, but the circumstances should be investigated. I will withhold judgment until the facts are known. If only Conservatrolls had the capacity to do the same.

Desertion in the face of the enemy is, or was, punishable by death. Only in today’s United States would it even be considered to swap the enemies captive leadership for one.
