Germany plays a very fair game since end of WWII. It’s the last country to repeat the 12 years of evil crimes. Now Germany shows it`s a real democracy by heading uo to the will of it’s people.

Im not convinced and I think Merkel was simply given the opportunity to show a public boot to the disposable CIA Station Chief. It’s just a little bit of PR show and not really of consequence.

If this is as far as it goes then German people are going to view Merkel as being weak for accepting the US to continue spying at all levels of German society, occupying the country with US troops, and directing German policy as part of the US Empire.

Embassies are dens of spies, and all countries spy on one another. It has always been this way, and it always will be this way. Friend or foe, ally or adversary, it makes little or no difference.

The sternly worded written statements and the outrage for the TV cameras makes for good political theater for domestic consumption. But nothing has changed and nothing will change (except for applying lessons learned to tradecraft).

If anyone here believes that Germany doesnt have intelligence officers, who do the exact same thing, in every embassy in the world, then you need to get real. If you think that any individual, in any embassy in the world, will not report intelligence to their offices, and it doesnt have to be the spy office, you again, are nuts. Lets put it this way. If you were a low level lackey in the library of an embassy, and you happened to notice something of interest to your nation, would you keep it quite? Of course not. Its not a game, but is a know fact of life. They take an oath, as a US employee to support the constitution of the USA, and to protect it. That is what they do.

Angela Merkel is too soft on the US in the spying scandals. In the current case the guy should have been charged & put on trial instead of getting sent home nicely.
