A huge chunk of the story must be missing. J realize it will be art of the November election, but exactly how much will this cost the state of Virginia? Rather than abdicating his sworn duty and responsibility to the folks of Virginia, surely Mr. Cantor could remain in office for the last two months of his term. Hard to believe he’s leaving early only to allow someone else a small leg up on the seniority ladder.

No special election, Governor McAuliffe, just because Mr. Cantor can’t take losing face. The office can stay vacant until next year. Filling government vacancies doesn’t seem to be a problem for the republicans when it comes to important bills to keep America running, filling vacant judge positions or filling cabinet positions. Mr. Cantor thinks much too highly of himself.

Could he resign, then enter the special election he requested as a last ditch attempt to keep his seat?

Things will probably run better in the Congress without this person. Remember the budget crisis and shutting down the US government? Thanks Eric. That was real statesmanship.

If Cantor is so concerned about the people of his district having a voice why is he resigning 3 months before his term ends? It certainly must cost the taxpayers of Virginia at least a little extra money to run a special election even if it is done at the same time as the regular election in November. Just so Eric Cantor can get away a few weeks sooner. What about representation for the people of his district between August 18th and November?
