UPDATE 7-Software pioneer McAfee arrives in U.S. from Guatemala
Although I agree that McAfee has serious issues (including signs of schizophrenia), his predicament kind of reminds me of the entertaining movie “Conspiracy Theory” with Mel Gibson and Julia Roberts.
In short, my thought — and I suspect the FBI or other U.S. authorities are considering this possibility — is there is a method of Mr. McAfee’s madeness. Perhaps he was shaken down by that government and there is corruption there. They would have to prove he is a real crime suspect, and not doing so, will lose credibility with the U.S. government that butters their bread. Therefore, they must act coy and dismayed by McAfee.
Perhaps I’ve seen too many crime thrillers, but I think it’s possible that (a) McAfee is nuttier than a fruitcake, and (b) he’s right about corrupt elements in their government wanting to take him down for refusing to pay them some of his fortune. Maybe the honest elements refuse to believe they have traitors in their ranks in Belize?
It is reported that he has posted a $12,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of any person or persons involved in the killing of his neighbor. That is not as ambitious as O.J. Simpson vowing to diligently hunt for the killer of his wife Nicole, but it is something.
Darrow…for the Prosecution
