Steel dumping has been a perennial issue for decades with Asian countries. I attended a Commerce Department meeting way back in 1974 that lodged complaints against Nippon Steel Corporation for dumping rolled steel below cost. Evenutally, the DOC did find that to be true and assessed duties against that company. Just when Korea- US signed a free trade agreement in 2007 and several add-ons since then, this sort of put a damper on it. Will Korea retaliate which is normal procedure for recipient countries? It will probably be directed at a product(s) with equivalent weight trade value as pipelines from the U.S.
